Off Trail
After some sleepless nights and no appetite (very very unusual for me..), I had sudden urge to take a walk to the forest
near my place. I was there about 6 months ago (see my September 2007 posting). Because spring hasn't come yet,
the forest was quite bare just with leafless trees.

Without intention to follow any trail marks, I just kept walking and found a path surrounded with trees with white or pale brown dead leaves still attached to their branches. Acutally these leaves made quiet, delicate sound of applause as wind blew. I was just enjoying hearing it and realized I got lost.

It seemed like I was walking toward the other side of the forest because an unfamiliar residential area emerged ahead.
I decided to get off the trail and continued to walk down the hill to see what would be out there.
Interestingly, there was a little field of some green plants near a small stream. It was like a tiny oasis.

Near the oasis, I found the way to get out from the forest if I could step on a pipe in the stream and climbed up the abandoned wooden pallet up to the street.

Then I found myself standing in the middle of the town of Englewood Cliffs. Ah, I crossed the forest today.. exiting from a secret path that wasn't on the trail map. I won't tell you where the secret path starts from! Ha ha.

When my head was blank by this unexpected finding, one sign came into my eyes.

So, the pipe I was stepping on while crossing the stream is the one warned in the sign.. Oh well, thank God I was light enough to give no pressure on the pipe...I am still alive..
